On January 11, shortly after sunset was almost entirely cloudy. There were only a few spots of open sky, much too high for where
one might expect to see a new crescent. After searching for about five minutes, having not seen the
moon, I stopped looking.

In Coquimbo the City of Chile, the new moon of Rajab is not seen ,the sky was quite clear.
