The Astronomical New Moon is on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at 18:40 UT. There is no possibility of moonsighting on that day. On May 29, the moon can be seen with difficulty in Africa and North America, but can easily be seen in South and Central Americas. On Friday, May 30, the moon can be easily seen in the whole world (See visibility curves).

REMARKS: In Kuwait on 29 May 2014 at Kabad Desert I could not see the crescent even with 8" telescope. The alignment of the telescope was confirmed by seeing Mars, Saturn, Mercury, and Jupiter but could not see the crescent. The western horizon was hazy upto 6 degrees above horizon.

REMARKS: I was using binoculars to locate the moon but it only came into view around the 8:35 time. It was faintly visible to the naked eye if you knew where to look, and had you not been looking for it you would not have seen it. There was a lot of particulate matter in the air as well.
