Moonsighting for Jumada-al-Oola 1435
The Astronomical New Moon is on Saturday March 1, 2014 at 8:00 UT. There is small possibility that the moon can be seen in North Anerica on March 1, 2014. On Sunday, March 2, the moon can be easily seen in the whole world, except Australia and New Zealand (See visibility curves).

REMARKS: This evening (Saturday, March 01, 2014), the crescent moon of Jumada I was not sighted in Blacksburg, VA (Lat: 37� 15' 40" N, Lng: 80� 26' 56" W, and elevation: 646 meters). I arrived at my sighting location (Blacksburg Middle School) at 6:23 pm EST (sunset: 6:15 pm). Soon after, using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning the expected area. The western horizon was partly cloudy and hazy. With no sighting success, I left the area past moonset (moonset: 6:59 pm). At 6:35 pm, the temperature, dew point, relative humidity, and pressure were 44.6 F, 28.4 F, 53%, and 30.18 in, respectively.

REMARKS: Today 29th. Rabi al Thani 1435H (2/3/2014) evening the Colombo sky was partly clear, I was able to locate the Crescent at 6:51pm. with my Binocular first and then naked eye sighting. My two sons Nabeel & Ansaf were witness the naked eye sighting with me (our Sunset was at 6:22pm.) and immediately I called over Colombo Grand Mosque Hilaal Committee and informed the sighting. The committee had received many more positive naked eye sightings. Hence the committee decided to start the month of Jumada al Oola Tomorrow, Monday 3rd. March 2014 "In Sha Allah"
