Hussain from Palayamkottai India (Lat: 08�42'51"N :& Long: 77�44'26"E). The Altitude was about 11.5� & horns were at 5 & 9 positions.
This is decreasing (waning) moon that was sighted on Tuesday 28th of Ramdhaan 1439 (12th June 2018). Click on the photo on the right to see full size.

New Crescent Moon of Shawwal 1439: June 13 & June 12, 2018:
The Astronomical New Moon (conjunction) is on Wednesday June 13, 2018 at 19:43 UT. On June 13, the moon can not be seen anywhere in the world. On June 14, it can be seen in Africa and Americas with naked eye (See visibility curves).
The earliest reported naked eye sighting of the new crescent was on June 14 2018 from Lusaka, Zambia,
but from Davao City, Philippines, it was seen by CCD camera.

Today is Thursday 14th of June 2018 we have tried as group of 4 people to see the moon in sydney Australia , but unfortunately no luck to see the moon , the weather was clear and the place where we went to was the best spot in sydney ( Penrith observatory) and we have used the telescope but we couldn�t see the moon at all, so tomorrow is Friday the 15th of June is the 30th or ramadan 1439H.

Update from Australian Hillal committee : By the will of Allah swt after a lot of consultation and mashwara of Ulema Ekram, they have now come to final conclusion by *contacting all the witnesses and Ulema around Australia* and decided that Eid ul Fitr 2018 will be on Saturday 16th June as they are not convinced / fully satisfied with the witnesses who claimed to see on June 14, Thursday.
Initially cresent was not sighted then 5 people claim from Sydney they have sighted. One backed off, two refused to take oath on Quran, and two witnesses were not enough to prove the claim so above decision was made by Ulamaa'.

Although some false witnesses has brought to us. After having carefully and meticulously reviewed and reassessed the testimonies which were brought forward pertaining to the alleged sighting of the moon, the Hilaal committee was not content due to many variables and has respectfully decided for Eid to be on Saturday, 16th June 2018.

By the command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Shariah High Court Judge, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan made the announcement on Radio Television Brunei that 01 Shawwal 1439 will begin on Friday, June 15.

In china,the first day of Shawwl 1439 began from Friday, on 15 June 2018. We Follow Malaysia, because they saw Hilal on June 14 2018.

On Thursday, June 14, 2018, I arrived at my observation point at the 28km mark on the Cairo/ Alexandria desert road just before sunset (18:58). I expected the moon at azimuth ~291.5� and altitude ~3� at best time, 19:18. The view was very clear. Visibility was great, with no cloud cover. Venus was magnificent. The timing was great. Just after Maghrib prayers, I was at the right spot at the right time. My brightness calculations had indicated that the Illuminated portion of the Moon was below the threshold of visibility.
And of course I could see nothing. Other observers in two other locations ( Maadi, south Cairo, and Sheikh Zayed district, West of Giza) also reported that they could see nothing.

The crescent for Shawal 1439/2018 has been sighted here in the Upper West Region of Ghana today Thursday 14th June 2018. I did not see the moon personally in Garu, but a friend (Imam Ibrahim) called from Wa to confirm the sighting report. The communities that saw the moon includes:
Checju, Bulinga, Kolikpong, Menwe. It was announced earlier too that Eid was to be observed on Friday,15th June 2018.

The Central Moon Sighting Committee of Guyana (CMSCG) has declared the 1st of SHAWWAL 1439AH to be on Friday, 15th June, 2018
The new crescent for the Islamic lunar month of Shawwal 1439 AH was sighted on Thursday, 14th June, 2018/29th Ramadhaan1439AH.
Therefore, EIDUL FITR 1439AH will be observed on Friday, 15th June, 2018

In Dehradun, 14th June 2018 is 29th Ramazan Ul Mubarak 1439 hijri (Thursday). I & my family tried to see the moon 1439 hijri Shawwal Ul Mukarram at my home from 07:45 pm to 08:05 pm moon was not sighted because Horizon was to cloudy.
The announcement made by Qazi e shaher & Mufti e Shaher is for Eid to be on Saturday, 16th June 2018.

MCW member Mr AR Sugeng Riyadi from from Assalaam Observatory (The Modern Boarding School of The Hilal of Shawal 1439 AH was NOT SIGHTED on Thursday, June 14th, 2018 from Assalaam Observatory at The Modern Boarding School of Islam ASSALAAM, Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo Central Java Indonesia because the sky was cloudy. This event was attended by Director of PPMI Assalaam, CASA members, Students of UIN Walisanga Semarang, Moslems and Local Jurnalists.
However, based on the reports from BMKG Teams from Palu anda Manafo also from Karya Island Jakarta by ISRN UHAMKA (photo : it was only seen by ccd not by naked eye), LAPAN Pasuruan and several NU locations in Gresik and Lamongan, the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in the Sidang Isbath decided that Shawwal 1st, 1439 A.H starts on Friday, June 15, 2018.

I tried to look for the Shawwal Cresent here in Monbasa, Kenya, but was not able to observe it. However, there were other sightings , confirmed by the Chief Kadhi, so Alhamdullilah, tomorrow Friday 15/06/2018 will in sha Allaah, will be the first day of Shawwal.

I tried to sight the new moon of Shawwal after the sun set in Rabat, Morocco but the West horizon was too cloudy.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs informed the citizens that they observed the moon of Shawwal in 1439 AH, after Maghrib on Thursday, 29 Ramadan 1439 AH, 14 June 2018 and announced that the new moon was observed.
Therefore, the beginning of the month of Shawwal is on Friday 15 June 2018.

We couldn't go out to sight for the new crescent moon of Shawwal today Thursday, 14/06/18~ 1439\09\29 due to heavy rainfall.
But it was reported by the National Moon Sighting Committee that the moon was sighted in various places in the northern part of the country. Consequence upon report of the committee, the Sultan who's the Chairman of the Nigerian Council for Islamic Affairs made an official announcement that tomorrow Friday the 15th of June is the first day of Shawwal. Eidil Mubaraq.

Cotabato City had a cloudy sky, crescent moon not seen. Nevertheless, "The ARMM Regional Darul-Ifta' declares that today 29th of Ramadhan, 1439 A.H / June 14, 2018 G. (Thursday) the moon was sighted in Indonesia, confirmed by the Consul Agus Majid Consulate of Indonesia. Therefore, the 1st day of Shawwal and the Eid'l Fitr congregational prayer will be tomorrow June 15, 2018."

Today, June 14, 2018 = 28th Ramadan. After the urgent committee meeting, the Colombo Grand Mosque confirmed that the newmoon has NOT been sighted in Sri Lanka. So the Ullamas have decided to meet again tomorrow (15.6.2018) after maghrib prayers. so the Eid Ul Fithr can fall on either Saturday or Sunday in sha Allah.

This evening (Thursday, June 14, 2018), the crescent moon was sighted in Blacksburg, VA (Lat: 37� 15' 40" N, Lng: 80� 26' 56" W, and elevation: 646 meters). I arrived at my sighting location at 8:20 pm EDT (sunset: 8:44 pm). The western horizon was partly cloudy and hazy. Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning the horizon. The first binocular sighting was at 8:45 pm followed by naked eye sighting at 8:46 pm. The horns were at 2:00 and 6:30 O'clock (2:00;4:00;6:30). While Jupiter and Venus were easily visible, a quick attempt to sight Mercury was unsuccessful. Two of my friends were present and sighted the crescent. We left the site prior to moonset (moonset: 9:44 pm). At 8:55 pm, the temperature, dew point, relative humidity, and pressure were 72.0 F, 58.5 F, 62%, and 30.08 in, respectively.

On Thursday June 14th 2018, the Crescent was sighted by me and many members in Houston Texas at 8:39 pm.
The sky was cloudy. The crescent horn in clockwise direction was from almost 2 to 8. Therefore, Friday June 15th is the 1st day of Shawal.
