On May 24, 2009, the Crescent first observed through 8� SC telescope at 19:29 (Altitude = 5.9 degrees. Final observation with telescope at 19:45 (Altitude = 3.0 degrees).
This was a difficult observation. The crescent never got as distinct as my record time observation. Initial view (19:29) was about 10 degrees in arc length. 15� at 19:31; Hints of extensions at 19:34; 40�-50� at 19.36; I could not see the entire arc at once. I had to scan with my eye. However, the entire arc was illuminated, some sections brighter than others. 60� at 19:40; 70� at 19:42; 80� at 19:43; 90� at last observation (19:45).

The skies was clear with thin patches of clouds in the northern hills of dago resor pakar, Bandung, Indonesia. Therefore for those who follow the moonsighting by magrhib way in Indonesia, tonight and during the day tomorrow, 26 May 2009, will be the 1st of Jumada at-Tsani, 1430.

On 25th May,09 the sky was cloudy with rain as the cyclone �Aila� hit the Southern Coast of Bangladesh. Sunset was not also visible. Crescent moon observation was not possible. Islamic Foundation of Bangladesh, responsible for Crescent Moon observation, decided to continue month of Jamidial Awal 30, 1430 Hejri, on 26th May. Direct observation within Bangladesh is the normal criteria for fixing the starting of Hejri month.

Not seen by us / easily seen by others. Today, Monday 25 May 2009 (29 Jumadal-oola 1430) many hundred members and friends of our institute �Jamia-tur-Rasheed� tried to sight the moon all over Pakistan. As it was full cloudy in Karachi hence I and my other friends could not sight the moon in Karachi but our many hundred other members and friends easily sighted the moon all over Pakistan. Al hamdou lillah, at 21:35 my husband Rida ROTY, told by phone that he has sighted the hilal of Jumada-al-thania by naked eyes from the window of the hospital he is in at Avignon, France. He asks Allah to give him health and seeks the same prayer (Dua) from all Muslems.
I have also sighted the hilal but only 10 minutes later at 21:45 from the window of my house in Avignon too. Allah karim.

After praying my maghrib salah, I left my home and simply crossed the street, I looked north westerly and within seconds was able to easily
spot the crescent of the new moon, subhanAllah. There were hardly any clouds this evening above Toronto and that of course made the new moon all the more easily seen.
