We arrived at our sighting location at about 7:35 pm EDT (sunset: 7:57 pm). The western horizon was partly cloudy and very hazy. The crescent was very thin and just coming out of a thick band of clouds and close to set behind distant mountains. This piece of cloud hindered our efforts to sight the crescent earlier. The binocular sighting continued till the moon set behind the mountains at 8:42 pm (actual moonset: 8:47 pm). Unfortunately, I did not attempt determination of the horns directions!
