Al urjoonul qadeem of Dhul-Qi'dah 1441: July 20 & July 19, 2020

Mohamed Hussain. Lat: 08�42'51"N :& Long: 77�44'26"E; Time: 05:17 am IST. The illumination was 3.5% & the Altitude was about 8.5� . The horns were at 4 & 8 positions. New Crescent Moon of Dhul-Hijjah 1441:

The Astronomical New Moon (conjunction) is on July 20, 2020 (Monday) at 17:33 UT. On that day, the moon can not be seen any where in the world. On July 21, it can be seen with difficulty in India, Pakistan, and Middle East, but easily in Africa, Canada, and Americas. On July 22, the moon can be seen in almost the whole world (See visibility curves).

The earliest reported sighting of the new crescent was on July 21, Tuesday from Kapad Beach, Kozhikode, Kerala, India.

July 21, 2020 (Tuesday):

  • Australia:

    1. Not Seen: MCW member Dr Shabbir Ahmed, President of Qubaa association of Western Sydney, NSW reported: Today (Tuesday) 21st of July 2020, the Hilaal of Dhul Hijjah has not been sighted anywhere in Australia. Hence, the month of Dhul Hijjah will commence from Thursday, 23rd of July 2020. Eid -ul- Adhaa will be celebrated on Saturday 1st of August 2020.

    2. Not Seen: MCW member Falcon Raja, from Sydney, NSW reported: Today Tuesday 21 July 2020 in Sydney Australia it is a bit fair weather. I tried to observe Hilal. But I was unable to see it till 5:35PM.

    3. Not Seen: MCW member Moussa Khalife from Sydney, NSW reported: Today, Tuesday 21st of July 2020, we didn�t see the moon in Sydney Australia. The weather was clear but No sighting for the crescent at all. So tomorrow Wednesday 22nd of July is the last day of dhul-qi�dah 1441H. So eid al adha will be on Saturday 1st of August 2020.

  • Barbados:

    1. Seen: MCW member Mohammed Patel from Bridgetown reported: On Tuesday 21st July, 2020. Crescent SEEN after the Maghrib prayers at approximately 6:45 pm local time. Orientation 5 O'clock to 7 O'clock.. Eid ul Adha will be on Friday 31st July.

  • Canada:

    1. Not Seen: MCW member Shahid Rashid from Mississauga Ontaio reported: While the moon is about 30 hours old but there are thick clouds covering the western sky. Therefore, we are not lucky to experience the sighting today.

    2. Not Seen: MCW member Muneeb Siddqui from Milton, Ontario reported: The moon for Dhul-Hijjah was not seen in Milton, Ontario, Canada due to clouds being present in the horizon. However, we are still waiting for the official announcement from the Hilal Committe of Toronto since there have been reports of the moon being sighted in the East Coast and the Caribbean.

  • Chile:

    1. Not Seen: MCW member Muhammad Sohail from Iquique reported: In Chile The new moon is not sighted, but the comunity members conected to near by countries like Valenzuela where moon is sighted so The Eid is on 31st of july 2020 in Chile.

  • Germany:

    1. Seen: MCW member Khaled Shehab from Crailsheim reported: Today Tuesday, 21.07.2020, I saw the Hilal with the binocular 15 X 60 only at 21.49 and is not possible to see it with necked eyes. Our local sunset time was 21:19. The sky was clearly.

  • India:

    1. Seen: MCW member Rasheed Usman, Kozhikode, Kerala reported: The hilal of Dulhijjah is sighted by a group of people at Kapad Beach Kozhikode Kerala today, informed Kapad Qazi. Accordingly Eidul Adha is declared on Friday 31 July 2020 in the State.

    2. Not Seen: MCW member Md Ohidullah from Birbhum, West Bengal reported: There is no sighting report of Crescent moon of Dhul Hijjah 1441AH in Birbhum or Any other part of West Bengal on 21st July 2020. Nakhoda Mosjid Rooyat-e-Hilal committee of West Bengal also declared that Eid Ul Azha Moon 1441 Not sighted. So, Eid Ul Adha Will be Celebrated In_Sha_Allah on 1st August 2020 Saturday.

    3. Not Seen: MCW member Naeem Surajwala from BHARUCH, GUJARAT, INDIA reported: Today (Tuesday) 21nd of July 2020, the Hilal of Dhul Hijjah 1441 has been not sighted in BHARUCH, GUJARAT, INDIA. Therefore, the month of Dhul Qa�dah 1441 will begin from Tuey, 23rd of July 2020. Inshaallah eid al adha will be on Saturday 1st of August 2020.

  • Indonesia:

    1. Not Seen, but seen at other locations: MCW member AR Sugeng Riyadi from Rowasiya Observatory reported: The new crescent of Dhulhijjah 1441 AH was NOT SIGHTED on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 from Assalaam Observatory, Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo Central Java Indonesia, the west sky was cloudy.

      The crescent observation for Dhulhijjah 1441 AH has been successfully held on Tuesday, July 21st, 2020 (Dhul Qeadah 29th, 1441 AH). The observation was closed for public amid to COVID-19 pandemic. The internal team member of Assalaam observatory started the observation at 17.00 Western Indonesian Time (UTC+7). All of the optical equipment were connected to the streaming device, for broadcasting via Youtube channel of Assalaam Observatory.

      The observation was led by the chair of the astronomy center at Assalaam, Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi. A number of team member including Mr. Purnomo, Mr. Taufiq, Mrs. Aline, Mrs. Tri Ratna were helping the chair to handle the observation equipment.

      However, the crescent was seen from several locations: Ponorogo, Kupang and Pasuruan, and according to the ithbat council by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, 1 Dhulhijjah 1441 AH started on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020.

  • Kenya:

    1. Not Seen: MCW member Muhamad Said Abubakar from Mombasa reported: Today Tuesday 21st July 2020 (29th Dhul Qaada 1441) The cloud cover was 53% and the humidity 73%. I was not able to see the Hilal for Dhul hijjah. The chief kadhi after consultations with his counterpart from Zanzibar and reports of sighting from Comoros island. The chief kadhi has officially announced Wednesday 22nd July is the 1st of Dhul hijjah and EIDUL ADH'HA will therefore be on Friday 31st July 2020.

    2. Not Seen: MCW member Mahmood Essa from Mombasa reported: I tried to look for the new crescent today, July 21 in Mombasa, Kenya, but could not see it. There was a lot of cloud cover. There has been another announcement from the Chief Kadhi�s office in Kenya , that the moon was sighted in Comoros , and based on that sighting, tomorrow Wednesday 22nd July 2020 will be the 1st Day of Dhul Hijjah, in sha Allah. Eid Ul Adha will therefore be in Friday 31st July 2020 InshaAllah.

    3. Not Seen: MCW member Ali Mohamed from Mombasa reported: Today 29th of Dhul-Qi'dah (21st July 2020), the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah 1441 has not been sighted in Mombasa Kenya. This may be due to the cloudy condition of the sky. The Chief Kadhi of Kenya has officially announced to complete 30 days of Dhul-Qi'dah and Thursday will be the 1st day of Dhul-Hijjah 144.       The office of the Chief Kadhi of Kenya has changed the first statement, and now has announced the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah 1441 has been sighted at Comoro Island. So tomorrow will be the 1st day of Dhul-Hijjah 1441.

  • Mauritius:

    1. Not Seen: MCW member Nissar Ahmad Ramtoola from Port Louis reported: The New Moon of Zil Hajj has not been sighted in Mauritius on Tuesday 21 July 2020. Hence Wednesday 22 July will be the 30th Zil Qadh and Thursday 23 July will be 1st Zil Hajj 1441. Eid Ul Adha will be celebrated on Saturday 1st August 2020. Sky was cloudy mostly all over the Island. 1441rmd

  • Morocco:

    1. Seen: MCW member Zakaria Guelzim from Rabat reported: This is to inform you that today Tuesday 21st July, I and many other observers in Morocco were able to sight the hilal of dhu al-Hijja after sunset. Click on the photo on right to see full size.

  • Pakistan:

    1. Not Seen: MCW member Dr Ismail Dehwar from Balochistan reported: On July 21, Tuesday, Dhul-Hijjah 1441 Hilal locally here in Pringabad Balochistan Pakistan was not sighted. The central Ruait-e-hilal committee also announced that the moon was not sighted across the country hence Eid-ul-adha will be on 1st August 2020 Saturday.

  • Spain:

    1. Seen: MCW member Gabriel Jairod�n Riaza from Madrid reported: Islamic Commission of Spain announces that Wednesday, 22 July, is the first day of the month of Dhu�l-Hijjah 1441. Thursday, 30 July, is Arafah Day, and Eid ul-Adha is Friday, 31 July 2020.

  • Sri Lanka:

    1. Not Seen: MCW member Mohamed Shakir from Galle reported: Today is 29th of Dhul Qa�dha and According to All Ceylon Jammiyathul Ulma that the authorized religious body for announcing the moon sighting in Srilanka, the crescent has not been seen anywhere in Srilanka. Therefore, we will complete month of Dhul Qadha with 30 days and start the new month of Dhul hijjah on 23rd of July 2020 (Thursday).

    2. Not Seen: MCW member Nular Bary from Colombo reported: Today 29th. Dul Kadah (21/07/2020) cloudy evening Colombo Sri Lanka no sighting was reported to The Colombo Grand Mosque Hillal committee from any of the cites. Hence the committee decided to complete the Month of Dhul Kadah with 30 days & start the Month Dhul Hijjah on 23rd.Thursday July 2020 "InShaAllah" Eid Dhul Alha will follows on 1st.August Saturday 2020.

  • South Africa:

    1. Not Seen: MCW member Rashid Motala from Durban reported: On the evening of Tuesday 21 July 2020, the Hilaal was NOT sighted in South Africa. Therefore Zul Hijjah 1441 will commence on Thursday, 23 July 2020 in South Africa.

  • Trinidad and Tobago:

    1. Seen: MCW member Umar Abdullah from Bon Accord, Tobago reported: Today, Tuesday, 21st July 2020, after sunset we looked for the new moon of Dhul Hijjah 1414 AH. The moon was SIGHTED. Therefore the month of Zulqaida has completed 29 days. Hence the 1st night of Dhul Hijjah would be the night of Tuesday 21st July 2020 and the first day of Dhul Hijjah would be Wednesday 22nd July 2020. Location: lat: 10 35 long: 61 21: Time of Sunset: 18:31: Time of the first appearance of the crescent: 18:52: Pressure: 1009 mb: Temperature: 24 �C: Relative humidity: 90%.

  • UK:

    1. Seen: Wifaqul Ulama Administrator of Britain reported: We have received reports of Moon sighting from France, Morocco and Zambia. Thus significant dates are as follows:
      Dhu al-Hijja begins on Wednesday, 22nd of July 2020.
      Eid al-Adha: Friday, 31st of July 2020.

  • Ukraine:

    1. Seen: MCW member Lenur Chaush from Kiev reported: Today, July 21, 2020 our moonsighting team in Mayaki Observatory Centre sighted the new moon of Zul-Hidjah.

  • USA:

    1. Seen: Council of Shia Muslim Scholars in North America announced: The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020, will be the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, 1441 A.H. for the entire region of North America.
      This determination is based on the fact that, so far, there were verified sightings of the crescent moon by the naked eye at sunset on Tuesday, July 21st, 2020 in Jacksonville, Miami, and Orlando, Florida, and Houston, Texas.

    2. Seen: MCW member Mohamedraza H.Janmohamed from Sanford FL reported: The Moon-sighting Sub-committee wishes to inform the community that the new crescent for the month was sighted in Orlando, FL as well as other cities of USA on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. Therefore the 1st Day of Mahe Dhulhijjah, 1441 AH is established as WEDNESDAY, JULY 22, 2020.

    3. Not Seen (Cloudy): MCW member Imam Hamid Quraishi Imam Islamic Center of Winona (ICW) Winona MN reported: We were unable to sight the Zulhijjah crescent moon this evening due to the sky was cloudy in Winona, MN. How ever based on completion of 30 days of Zul Qadah today and Saudia announcement for Hajj, ICW announced the first day of Zulhijjah will be on July 22, 2020. Therefore Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on Friday, July 31, 2020 Inshallah.

    4. Not Seen (Cloudy): MCW member Dr Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg VA reported: The new moon crescent was seen in the Houston area on the evening of July 21, 2020. This image was taken at 8:44 pm CDT at a direction of 288 degrees WNW (29.7713� N, 95.4310� W).638 meters). I arrived at my sighting location in Blacksburg prior to sunset (sunset 8:39 pm EDT). The horizon was cloudy and very hazy. After a few minutes, I decided to continue sighting in Christiansburg, hoping that I would have a better chance of sighting the moon there. I tried several locations. At the last place, using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning areas that appeared to be clear but still very hazy. I could not see the moon. I left the area prior to moonset (moonset: 9:45 pm).

    5. Seen: Mr Rehan M. Safiullah from Houston, TX reported: The new moon crescent was seen in the Houston area on the evening of July 21, 2020. This image was taken at 8:44 pm CDT at a direction of 288 degrees WNW (29.7713� N, 95.4310� W).

    6. Seen: Imam AbdulHakeem Nabeeh Um'Ranih reported: The WDM Community and Imam AbdulHakeem Nabeeh Um'Rani had multiple moon sightings through out the Continental USA. Please add us to the "SEEN" listing page and we have determined that the 1st day of Dhul-Hijjah is July 22, 2020 and Eidul Adha will be Friday, July 31, 2020.

  • Zimbabwe:
